There are times that public interest does not coincide with business interests (actually that is most of the times the case) but there are also some rare opportunities that these two worlds do collide. At Playitas Resort we have taken in hand such an opportunity. Our local government has offered us to work together on a very special project. As you know, on the Canary Islands, the labor situation is very critical and the Islands are very dependent on tourism and if that starts failing, well, you can imagine the rest. The actual situation is simple. A lot of people out there are looking for a job in whatever form they can get it. As any enterprise, we have our fair share of people who present themselves spontaneously to find out if there is any chance of snatching up some jobs. But here comes the problem, most of those people are absolutely clueless on how they have to go at this.
As we have such a good working relationship with local government, we have both decided to set up some formation sessions for the local folks to give them the right tools to increase the chances of making a difference at the time of presenting themselves for a new job.
These sessions will be held at government facilities and will be guided by our experienced director of Human Resources.
This is just an example of how we, at Playitas Resort, try to find ways to render services at the local community as it is in the common interest of both worlds.

Hay veces que los intereses públicos no coinciden con los intereses en los negocios (suele ser en la mayoría de los casos), pero hay excepciones en la que ambos mundos coinciden. En Playitas Resort tenemos a tiro una gran oportunidad. El gobierno local nos ha ofrecido trabajar juntos en un proyecto muy especial. Como sabrás, en las Islas Canarias, la situación laboral es muy crítica y las islas dependen casi exclusivamente del turismo. Y si este sector empieza a fallar, ya te puedes imaginar el resto. La actual situación es simple; hay una gran mayoría de gente que presenta su candidatura espontáneamente para cualquier empleo. Y aquí es donde encontramos uno de los graves problemas, ya que la mayor parte de ellos no tiene una clara idea de como afrontar esta situación.
Por eso y como tenemos una buena relación con la administración local, ambos hemos decidido establecer algunas sesiones de formación para la población de la zona y así poder ofrecerles instrumentos para aumentar las posibilidades de éxito en el momento que alguien se presenta para un puesto de trabajo.
Estas charlas serán dadas en instalaciones municipales y coordinadas bajo la experiencia de nuestro Director de Recursos Humanos.
Esto es solamente un ejemplo de como en Playitas, buscamos la manera de ofrecer servicios a la comunidad local y conseguir el bien común de todos.
